The Vertex Effects channel is hosted by Mason Marangella (aka The Rig Doctor), the owner, creator, and CEO of Vertex Effects, a boutique effects pedal and accessories company based in Los Angeles, California.
Our focus is to deliver the guitar community with weekly high-quality content covering (1) DIY best practices to optimize your pedalboard and tone, (2) providing gear recommendations and reviews based on our favorite products from other brands and makers, and (3), demonstrating the products that we design and manufacture at Vertex Effects.
In addition to our normal video content, we release a weekly podcast with other industry professionals: Grant Klassen (Goodwood Audio), and Brian Omilion (Omilion Audio), collectively known as The Chairmen of the Boards, to dive further into the topics of tone, pedalboards, and guitar gear in a long-form roundtable discussion, streamed live on RUclips every Monday afternoon.

I love Lee Ritenour
You’re the man Mason, our whole community is thankful for your knowledge sharing and great pedals
Give me a reason never fails to get the chicks out on the dance floor.....more than any other song I can think of.😊
I remember when this video had 38k views
People talk all the time about underrated guitar players in the guitar community. Most have it wrong because they don’t follow the artist/player. In Wendy’s case, she really is underrated. She has been a force in amazing music for 40 years or more, and a lot of people don’t even know her name or give her the credit for the things she’s done. She’s been one of my favorite musicians since purple rain. She’s one of the big reasons I picked up a guitar myself. So thank you Wendy. You’re a damn rock star.
Te amoooo
That guitar is beautiful.
BRAIAN SEI SEmpre nel mio cuore con le tue canzoni ❤😂😅😊😮
WOW! Wonderful!
I hereby testify, I have had some REALLY good food at Buccee's ....
That tone it’s just immaculate
She has the most dreamy sound ive ever heard , Thats amazing !
Salute to Mr. Smith. Fantastic performances. 👏🏽
Buena música!!!! Eso es el África que nos une
Jubu is definitely that dude!!!!! Earl Klugh vibez right here. 🎸 🎸 🎸
michael ...trully genuius of those guitar lines...
iconic
Nah. Not really. The first couple of riffs would've also been disected
AWESOME
I used one of these pedals and did not like it. My two favorite reverb pedal is the keeley hydra and boss rv6
So still don't know what strat he's playing ?
Hey dude, great video 'n' greetings from Scotland; sorry if I'm being dumb but I'm looking at getting one of these; am I right in thinking if I wanted to run a stereo amp rig with a send/return to the fx loop of one of the amps, the routing is as simple as left/right out to each amp then patch the fx loop to one of the send/return...which would leave one spare send/return to give me a loop for my analouge stuff? Have you found any issues with routing like this? I'm basically trying to achieve a stereo wet/dry rig with the option to run some "taste" verb/delay etc to the dry amp's fx loop while sending my analouge pedals to the "dry" amp only (I'm still not sold on digital gain/boost emulations haha). Thanks for your help brother 🤘
The groovemaster. Check out his rhythm guitar part on honeycones want ads
You are so funny! 😛😛😛😛
I like the highest gain in the middle, a low gain in front and afterwards.
Not just of the 80s...still one of the best sounding guitars of all time
I have a question. I have a 2016 MIM Standard Telecaster polar white. And I swear it's turning a yellow. Is this possible with a polyurethane finish?
PJJ! BEST EAR!
John's guitar playing and production are stellar. So many folks are moved by musicians that play at blinding speeds. John's sound and support of the song put him at the top of my list!
If only Burnie was still around, that bass would have been locked too.
PAUL JACKSON JR FOREVER
Hearing you play this, I am still astounded at your touch, tone and musicality...emotional, moving, perfect for the song. I remember you generously teaching me how to get your great delay setting on my H3000...I remember it like it was yesterday:-)
When I first heard this, I thought it was ERIC JHONSON!
why couldn't they just say Paul Jackson Jr.?
Couldn’t you just read the description?
The original first release is Wynonna Judd before it hits with clapton ☺️
I’m not sure how that’s invalidated here?
There IS a place for them: the effects loop!
The term Marshall "plexi" for me has been and is an association with the JTM, JMP and 1987x circuits. They are obviously not identical,..but those amps are the "plexi" sound. The first, early, old school Marshall sounds. Also anything Marshall produced to honor that or replicate that sound. Much like the Marshall Origin 20 and Origin 50.
I highly suggest finding this whole interview! It's excellent!
Ray played with the Crusaders in the early 2000s. He's a fantastic guitarist.
Very Cool. I've been playing this exact guitar for the last nearly 10 years, and i learned something today with its history and the details of how it shapes the tone i love. It's my main workhorse!
Damn man you are playing that guitar its so sweet makes my whole soul sing thanks bro
Awesome guitar work. Great song....
Of course RUclips recomends me this video after listening to get lucky 8 times at once for good luck
I have a Venus 6 & various other topshelf handwired amps from Suhr Matchless Mesa Marshall...the Venus 6 does Blackface\Tweed & Vintage Marshall type drive. These tones are pristine 3D & authentic. This amp is the best amp Ive ever used! My only complaint is the boost is too loud but can be tamed with your volume knob. In a combo with a Celestion gold it is absolute sonic bliss. Rivera rules!!
What? No Raydio? Jack and Jill.
Holy shit howd they get him to take off his mask
Hey Mason great video. I would love to get you opinion on my board. Although I don't have IG. I sent you a message on your website.
god bless you
I don't know most of the songs but the arrangement and solo's reminds me of background music from Karate Kid, Rocky I & II, Airwolf and anything else from the 80's - man, I love it!!
What's crazy is I had no idea the guitarist would do so much of the creative process on the sound of the guitar, particularly with effects. I thought the engineers and producers would do all that
